Enoch Walked with God
Enoch was with man, then he was not.
Walking with God means that one is willing to be righteous before him. It means that one is capable of making the right choice to stand next to his Maker to please him, serve him and love him because he is aware that his Creator first loved him.
In the Old Testament, we can read of a remarkable man who was able to walk with God. Enoch was such a person who walked with God. (Gen. 5:22) Now, walking with God does not mean that he was walking in front of God so God could judge him, nor does it say that he walked after God. It states that he walked with God as two friends walk together.
We can see by what little we know of Enoch that he was a good man. He was one who was aware of the greatness of God and was one of God’s prophets. “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” (Jude 1:14, 15)
Enoch was one who stood for the truth and because he would not bend what God had made straight, God further blessed him by not allowing him to taste death. “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Gen. 5:24) God took him home to rest. For, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” (Heb. 11:5)
Friends and brethren, we too can be like Enoch who stood for the truth not wavering like the sea. We too can be at rest inside the home that God has so graciously prepared for us. Therefore, stand as Enoch did by his faith in God because our Father “is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Heb. 11:6b)
