Many people today do not serve God or pursue Him because they do not have confidence in Him. This is true of many people because they have not taken time to be acquainted with God. There are too many people today that get their information about the God of the Bible from unreliable sources. I know of many people who make statements about God or about events in their life, the life of someone that they know, about some tragic event in nature or the sudden death of someone that they know, or get their view of God from people who do not really know Him. We all need to investigate the God of the Bible from the only source that is available to us, the Bible. Whenever we are wise enough to examine the Bible we find out a number of facts that give us an idea of God’s nature, qualities, and majesty.

As one can see by reading about God’s qualities in His Book (i.e., the Bible), He is not at all like man in any sense. Because God is unlike man, it is difficult for us to understand Him without examining the Bible. The Bible gives us a beautiful picture of God, of course no man has seen God for God is spirit, cf., John 4:24. Knowledge of God can only be determined by considering the information that is revealed to us via the Written Word, or by looking at nature around us.
When we look at the natural world, we find that nothing compares, in beauty to what God has provided for us in the natural world. Whenever we look for real magnificence in art we might turn to the painters of great pictures or venture to a famous art gallery but the paintings of man cannot compare to the beauty of a golden, red, yellow, and blue sunset on a crisp spring day. Whenever we look to the works of man in construction and architecture, we are amazed by the great bridges and tall skyscrapers that man has built but these are meager when compared to the Grand Canyon or the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Then of course we are awed by the power of the rockets that blast men into outer earth orbit or the explosive power of an atomic bomb but theses too are simple whenever we see the power of a volcano or a 6.5 earthquake somewhere in the earth. Indeed, these mighty works demonstrate the power, the beauty, the greatness, and goodness of God, not only in the Bible record; it is also visible in nature.

GOD’S GOODNESS REVEALED:
As we live, move, and have our being here in the world we oftentimes ignore the many things that God has done for us. How often do we acknowledge our very existence, out ability to learn, our capacity for love, anger, and hate, the beauty of a fall sunset, the activity of the oceans as their tides come and go, the beauty of a rose or a daffodil, etc. Indeed, there are many things that bless our existence even if we do not acknowledge God. Indeed, it is true, “God makes his rain fall on the just and the unjust alike, cf., Matthew 5:45 – that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.
